Henry Vernon Lineberger,
Jr., 82, of Mooresville, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at
the Gordon Hospice House. He was born on January 7, 1927 in Iredell County,
to the late Henry and Christine Dellinger Lineberger. He was a veteran
serving in the US Army Air Corps.
Henry was a graduate of Catawba College, where he excelled at baseball
and continued after college playing in the NC State Baseball League with
the Mooresville Moors.
After baseball Henry began his career in the food business with Thomas
Howard Company later becoming a partner in the J.A. Richardson Company
retiring in 1985. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church, where he was
a member of the Adult Men III Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Jean Boring Lineberger; sons,
Henry Vernon Lineberger III and wife, Nancy of Charlotte, Edward Lineberger
of Apex; brothers, Bobby Lineberger and wife, Patty; sisters, Joy Gabriel
and husband, Leon, Betty Ann Horton and husband, Jimmy, Patsy McCall;
grandchildren, Ryan Elizabeth and husband, Bryan, Zachary, Todd, Anna;
and great granddaughter, Callie.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 4 at Berea
Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Freeman officiating.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service,
where cake and ice cream will be served.
