MUNROE FALLS - Roy A. Leafgren, 78, passed away Friday September 19, 2008.

Born in Akron August 4, 1930 to the late Roy A. and Audrey E. Leafgren, Roy lived most of his life in the Akron, Munroe Falls area and attended East High School. He left the Akron area for a short time after signing a professional baseball contract with the St. Louis Browns.

Several years later Roy was drafted into the Army during the Korean conflict. Upon returning home Roy went to work for Ford Motor Co. at Walton Hills stamping plant, retiring after 33 years of service. Roy was inducted into the Akron Baseball Hall of Fame in 1993.

Roy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joanne; daughter, Kelly, and son, David and is survived by son, Kevin; daughter-in-law, Debbie; granddaughters, Erin and Beth; grandsons, Ryan and Matthew and brother, Ronald.

Hospice of Summa Chaplain, Kevin L. Dejournett will conduct service at the Redmon Funeral Home Wednesday 8 p.m., where friends may call Wednesday 5 p.m. until service time.
