HOPEDALE Dennis Lamothe, 71,
of Hopedale, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, in UMass Memorial Hospital,
Worcester.
A lifelong resident of Hopedale, Mr. Lamothe was a wood pattern maker
for the former Draper Corp., Hopedale for 20 years and had once had one
of his wood patterns exhibited in France at an international textile trade
show. He later worked for Boston Scientific, Natick.
He was born in Milford on August 24, 1936, the son of the late Dionis
and Lucetta (Lambert) Lamothe, and was a graduate of both Hopedale High
School, where he played baseball and basketball, and the Draper apprentice
program.
He had played baseball for the New England All Stars and was chosen MVP
of the Championship Milford Legion Baseball team in Florida. He then went
on to play professional baseball with the Detroit Tigers organization.
Mr. Lamothe also coached little league in Hopedale for several years,
had also been a ski instructor at Killington, Vt, and was a long-time
member of the MetroWest Worship Center in Ashland.
He is survived by one brother Victor G. Lamothe of Hopedale and two cousins,
Hazel Caufield of Hopedale and Gail Paturzo of Hopedale.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 10 a.m. in
the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford, MA 01757.
Interment will follow in the Hopedale Village Cemetery, Rte. 16, Hopedale.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., prior to the service
in the funeral home.
