Harold 'Red' A. Lambeth, 79
Harold "Red" Adams Lambeth, 79, of Dunn died Sunday evening, May 25, 2008, at Wake Medical Center.
He was born in Durham to the late Gurney and Lindy B. Lambeth. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Lambeth played minor league baseball for the Chicago Cubs organization. He worked for the City of Dunn for more than 42 years, 22 years as athletic director. He served on the board for the Tar Heel League and was City of Dunn's Man of the Year in 1992. Mr. Lambeth was a member of Westfield Baptist Church where he was a deacon and taught Sunday school.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Westfield Baptist Church by the Rev. Chris Dawson. Entombment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia T. Lambeth; sisters, Annie Mae West and Verona Singleton, both of Erwin; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home.
