Robert F. Kupina, North Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of 1010 Lincoln Blvd., Manitowoc, Wis., died June 25, 2012.
Bob was born June 23, 1926 in Chicago, Ill.,, the son of the late Frank and Rose (Pintur) Kupina. He attended schools in Chicago. He served in the United States Army Cavalry at Fort Riley, Kan. and was stationed overseas in the Philippines. He played Minor League Baseball with the Cubs, Saints, Palatka Azaleas and Chickasha Chiefs. He was a fireman at Forest View, Ill., until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of the Illinois Professional Firefighters Association, Manitowoc Elks Lodge #687 and Lakeshore Curling Club.
On July 17, 1976, he married Mary Jane (Vogel) Schwark in Illinois. Survivors include his wife; three children, Robert K. (Nancy) Kupina, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Kathy Dwyer and Paulette (Al) Geiersback, Willowbrook, Ill.; two step-children, Deborah (Louis) Lodel, Kiel, Wis.; and William Schwark, Manitowoc, Wis.; five grandchildren, Mason, Addison and Aiden Kupina, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Louis J. Lodel III, Eagan, Minn.; and Margrett Sampe, Madison, Wis.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5, at Hope Hospice Chapel, Cape Coral, Fla. Interment will follow later at the Wisconsin Veterans Cemetary, King Wis.
