Aloysius "Al Kuni"
Kunigonis passed away on November 26, 2012. He was born on February 9,
1919, in Breslau, Pennsylvania, to George and Mary (Maslowski) Kunigonis.
He is preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
On May 1, 1948, he married Dora Metzler who predeceased him in January
Al is survived by two daughters: Donna (Alan) Loehr of Wichita, KS, and
Debra Kunigonis of Seattle, WA. He is also survived by two grandchildren:
Ryan (Brook) Loehr, Esq., Kansas City, MO, and Sarah (Michael-Lt.Col.
USAF) Clark, Alexandria, VA; and two great-grandchildren Maddux Clark
and Tessa Clark of Alexandria, VA.
in the US Army during WWII from Jan. 14, 1942 to Nov. 10, 1945, during
which time he served in the Asiatic Pacific. After his service he worked
for E.G.Stevens Tobacco Co. in Wichita, KS, as a route salesman for many
years. He enjoyed playing semi-pro baseball during his younger years.
His love of sports of all kinds included bowling, playing and umpiring
baseball, refereeing football, as well as being an avid golfer (which
was his passion even into his 90's).
