Raymond E. "Pappy" King, age 81, of Clairton, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2011 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born January 18, 1930 in Marietta, OH, he was a son of the late John and Garnet (Hayes) King.

He was a member of the former St. Paulinas Church in Wilson, a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army and retired as a production planner from U.S. Steel's Clairton Works. Raymond excelled in his youth as a baseball player, making it as far as the Philadelphia Phillies farm system and spent a lot of his spare time as a coach in Clairton's Little Leagues.

For those efforts, he was named Clairton Citizen of the Year in 1981.

He was also a member of the American Legion Daniel Keffer Post #75 of Clairton and Clairton Recreation Board. But, most of all, he was a great man to his family, and they will love and miss him always.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty J. (Adams) King, his daughter Kathi (Steve) Cowser of Wintersville, OH, his son Randy (Kathy "Sassy") King of Elizabeth Township, his grandchildren Lindsey (Jon) Conn and Adam and Matthew Cowser, his great-granddaughter Olivia Rae Conn, his Yorkie "Big Bud", also nieces and nephews. Besides his parents,

Raymond was preceded in death by his sister Betty McCorkle.

Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, Clairton on Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 1 PM until 4 PM and from 6 PM until 8 PM.

A Blessing will be held in the funeral home on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 11:30 AM with procession and burial to follow to Calvary Cemetery in Port Vue.
