Passed away on January 23, 2008 in Rancho Palos Verdes. Joseph was born on April 18, 1925 in San Francisco and was a lifetime resident of San Pedro.

Joseph was a baseball player at Loyola University and played major league baseball for the San Diego Padres and the St. Louis Browns. He was also drafted by the Dodgers baseball organization.

Mr. Katnich was preceded in death by his sister, Sister Mary Cortona Katnich IHM. He is survived by his wife, Keun Sook; son, Michael J. (Karen) Katnich; daughters, Kristine (Scott) Kelly, Denise (Jeff) Austin, Anne (Mike) Giltner, and Donna Jo (Mike) Boucher; 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, January 28, 2008, 10:30am at Mary Star of the Sea Church followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park.
