A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 12 at Woodville Cemetery for Arnold (Arnie) R. Kanady age 80, who passed away April 3, 2012 in Porterville.

Pastor Jon Griffith of the Porterville Nazarene Church and Bill Hurt of the Lindsay Church of God will officiate.

Arnie was born Sims, Arkansas February 8, 1932 to the late George Cleveland and Dovie May Stewart Kanady. His family moved to Woodville, California in 1934.

He was a foreman for the Badger Paper Co. in the Los Angeles and Salinas areas. After retirement, he relocated in Porterville and was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He loved sports of all kinds and was drafted as a pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates after graduating from Porterville High School. He played in the minor leagues in Yuma, Arizona.

Arnie was a long time member of the Salinas and Porterville Churches of God.

Survivors include his wife Myra Kanady of 7 years, sons Wayne (Diane) Kanady of Idaho, Michael (Mary) Kanady of Virginia, and daughter Gloria (Tom) Faucet of California, brother Jim Don (Sue) Kanady, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wives Ethyl Heusdens and Pauline Kanady, brother Autis Kanady and Alfred Kanady and sister Annie Ketchum.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Porterville Nazarene Church or Lindsay Church of God in Arnie's memory.
