Kirk Jones, 53, passed
away peacefully on February 15th, 2011 at home in Gilbert Arizona. His
passing is bittersweet. He fought a valiant battle and is no longer held
captive in a body ravaged by ALS; however, our hearts are incomplete without
Kirk loved baseball and found success as a pitcher in his youth. He pitched
in college for UNLV and was drafted by the Cleveland Indians Organization
where he made his professional baseball debut. He was an avid D-back fan
and enjoyed attending games with family and friends. Kirk enjoyed watching
and playing many sports, he especially loved to golf.
Kirk had a successful career in the wireless business, and in financial
planning, ending his career with AXA advisors. The last few years of his
life, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, and spending time with his children
and grandchildren. He valued and found joy in time spent with family and
freinds. This was most important to him.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years Karen, daughter's Jessika (Nick)
Hunter, and Sarah (John) Taylor, and six grandchildren. He loved his childhood
sweetheart and eternal companion Karen. His daughter's Jessika and Sarah
were the love of his life, and he truly admired Nick and John, as the
son's he never had. Grandpa was especially fond of his grandchildren who
he referred to as his "team".
He was a man of great integrity and wanted to be known as one who "wore
out" his life in the service of his God and found "Joy"
in the journey.
A service to honor his memory will be held on Saturday, February 19th,
at 10:00 am at the LDS church, 3580 E. Houston Ave, Gilbert, AZ 85234.
