Andrew P. Jarusinski
Andrew P. Jarusinski Jr., 78, of Winterset Farms in Wilmington, Del., a retired electrician and former major league pitcher, died Jan. 25 at Sacred Heart Home in Philadelphia.
Born in Chester, he lived in the city and in Upper Chichester before moving to Winterset Farms in 2004.
Mr. Jarusinski attended the former St. Hedwig Grade School and the former St. James High School, both in Chester. He was employed by the old Sun Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co. in Chester for many years before his retirement. Mr. Jarusinski pitched for the Brooklyn Dodgers for a short time after playing in their farm system for several years.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Jarusinski was a member of the Knights of Columbus. An accordion player and organist, he enjoyed music, golf, boating and fishing. Mr. Jarusinski was the son of the late Catherine Kokoszka Jarusinski and Andrew P. Jarusinski Sr.
Survivors: Wife of 55 years, Gladys Halecky Jarusinski; daughter, Denise M. Cipolla of Claymont, Del.; sons, Andrew P. Jarusinski III of Wilmington, James M. Jarusinski of Millsboro, Del.; sisters, Dorothy Bolton of the Glen Mills section of Concord, Michaeline Schad of Claymont, Joan Czyszczon of Chester, Va.; brother, Stanley Jarusinski of Stella, N.C.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews.
Service: 10 a.m. Friday Mass, St. Hedwig Church, 312 Hayes St., Chester.
Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Thursday, 8:30-9:15 a.m. Friday, Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Bethel.
