Age 88, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville,
KY.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Holy Family Parish, 11804 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Father Ken Coughlin officiating.

Friends will gather at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the Memorial Mass. Interment of cremains will follow at All Saints Cemetery.

Those desiring may make contributions to Elaine Grohovsky for a Brick with Wally's name on it for the Jerusalem Cross at Father Ryan High School for the Athletic Complex.

Wallace was born in Flint, Michigan on December 22, 1923, the son of the late Martha and Walter Jakowczyk. After graduating from St. Mary's High School, he played baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies Farm Team, and was inducted into the Great Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1994. He retired from Andaconda Aluminum, Terre Haute, IN.

He married Barbara Brown on January 6, 1951, they made their home in Terre Haute and Florida and she preceded him in death in 1995.

Surviving are son, Jack Jakowczyk; daughter, Elaine (Gary) Grohovsky; daughter-in-law, Patti Jakowczyk; grandchildren, Melissa (Victor) Dodson, Brad Grohovsky, Ryan and
Eric Jakowczyk, Aimee Minett; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard (May) Jakowczyk; sisters, Joanne Kehler and Marcie (Eric) Wohleben; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special "Little sister", cousin, Paula (David) Buick.

He was preceded in death by; wife; brother, Lewis; sisters, Pat Jakowczyk, Dorothy Smorch and Mary Ann Wells.
