Wilbur C. Jackson

Wilbur C. Jackson, 83, of 108 Lippazan Way, husband of Florence Jackson, died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at St. Francis, Eastside.
Born in Trenton, N.J., he was the son of the late Charles Wilbur and Marion McGuirk Jackson.
Mr. Jackson was the retired owner of several service stations. He was a professional baseball player, playing short stop with the New York Giants and Washington Senators.
He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 10819 and past member of Council 1668.
Mr. Jackson was a member of the Tuesday and Thursday Golf-Carolina Springs Senior League, was an avid golfer and baseball fan and was a United States Navy veteran having served during World War II.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Gary and Diane Jackson of Nashville, Tenn. and Charleston, S.C., and Brian and Lucia Jackson of Taylors, S.C.; two grandchildren, Kimberly Seccareccio and Jennifer Durbin, both of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; two great-grandchildren, Luca and Ella Seccareccio; and his constant canine companion and nurse, Cindi.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2008, from 10 to 11:45 a.m. with the funeral Mass to follow at noon at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park.
