Edward led a decorated life of service to his country; first serving overseas
for over four and a half years with the U.S. Army during WWII. Upon his
return, he served and retired from the Chicago Fire Department.
He was program director of St. Michael's Boys Club and Camp Lang. Edward
was a member of Russel Square American Legion Post #1006 for 50 years.
Prior to WWII, he was an accomplished baseball player. He was a star player
for Bowen High School and was chosen for the "all city" team
in Chicago during two of those high school years. He also played for the
Chicago Cubs Minor League and had a bright future according to many newspaper
articles written about him.
It was at that time that our country needed his service in the armed forces
and Edward selflessly gave of his time.
He remained a fan of both Chicago baseball teams and enjoyed fishing in
Wisconsin, Michigan and South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Calumet Region.
