YAKIMA - Gerald Glenn Ice, 76, Yakima, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Yakima Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Pond Fork, Missouri on December 1, 1934 to Cecil and Thelma (Mahan) Ice. The family moved to Yakima in 1945 from Missouri. He attended Highland High School. Jerry played minor league baseball and was a pitcher for the Yakima Bears. He was drafted by the Globe Miami Arizona Triple A Baseball team in 1955.

He met Connie Taylor of Salem, Oregon, the mother of his children, and they were married in 1955.

Gerald worked as a shoe salesman at McCutcheon's Shoes for five years. He managed the Enco service station on 36th Ave. and Tieton Drive for seven years. He later worked for many years in automobile sales, beginning at Valley Ford and then at Pingrey Motors before retiring. Gerald was a member of Yakima Bible Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Jerald Ice of Vancouver, WA and Donald (Kathy) Ice of Kent, WA; two daughters, Lisa (Paul) Keough of Beaverton, OR and Julie Birchard of Yakima; six grandchildren, Erin Gorkavchuk, Jared Ice, Trevor Ice, Andrew Keough, Alexa Keough and Robin Searchfield; one brother, Cloyd Ice of The Dalles, OR and a sister, Barbara Lavender of Yakima. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mark Ice and a brother, Don Ice.

Visiting hours will be held from 12 until 5 p.m. Sunday, December 26 at the Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. Funeral services will be held at the Keith & Keith Terrace Heights Chapel on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Concluding services and burial will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
