Jasper Clyde Houck, Jr. (J.C.)
died at Mercy Hospital Monday, December 8, 2008. He was born September
12, 1928 at Maud, Oklahoma. J.C. grew up at Seminole where he met his
wife of 46 years, Ruth and played semi-pro baseball for the Seminole Oilers.
After that, he began working in the oilfield as a roughneck during the
cable tool days. The oilfield led him to Alice, Texas, then to Duncan,
Pauls Valley and back to Seminole before moving to Midwest City where
he began J.C. Houck Oilfield Service in 1959.
After 26 years, he closed the doors on J.C. Houck Oilfield Service and
in 1985 began working alongside his oldest son, Glenn, to build Star Pipe
Service, Inc.
In June 2003, eight years after Ruth died, J.C. married Janice Fite of
Bethany, Oklahoma. J.C. and Jan lived together on the premises of Star
Pipe Service allowing J.C. to remain an integral part of his son's business
until his brief illness which began October 30, 2008.
J.C. will be buried beside his first wife, Ruth and their daughter, Necie
in Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma.
He leaves behind wife, Jan sons Glenn, David and Danny daughters-in-law,
Marla and Lynette grandchildren Glenn, Jr., Malinda, Bobby, Jeff, Dustin,
Tyler and Corina great grandchildren Paige, Glenn III (Trey), Zachary
and Caden. Preceded in death by first wife, Ruth and daughter Bernice
ReNee Houck. With all our love, we will see you in heaven. Pallbearers
are Glenn Houck, Jr., Bobby Houck, Jeff Houck, Dustin Houck, Sid Johnson,
Tyler Houck, Will Perry and Joe Goggin. Honorary pallbearers are Gary
Lunski, Rod Oringderff, Lemual Cavin, Jim Beaver, Joe Teague, Alan Elliott,
Charles Corban, Gordon Boone, Craig Boone and Raymond Chandler.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, December 12, 2008 at
Council Road Baptist Church, 2900 N. Council Road, Bethany, Oklahoma with
the Reverend M. Russell Herndon officiating.
Interment will follow in Seminole, Oklahoma under the direction of Resthaven
Funeral Home.
