Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Trinity
Lutheran Church, Clear Lake for Harold G. Houck, age 78, of Clearwater
who died Friday at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Rev. Peter Holm will officiate. Friends and relatives may call from 4-8
p.m. Tuesday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Clear Lake and
one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the church.
Harold was born July 7, 1931 in Miller, SD to Earl Clinton Houck and H.
Margaret (Schnoor) Houck. He served in the Korean War, stationed in Alaska
from 1949 1951. He pitched for the Brooklyn Dodgers minor league
team in Florida.
Harold married Marlene Ness on Aug. 20, 1952 in Minneapolis. After raising
their family in Hastings he moved the family to Briggs Lake. He was in
the lumber yard and home construction and remodeling business for many
years. Harold was an avid pool league player and enjoyed fishing, hunting,
and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Marlene of Clearwater; daughters
and son, Sherrey (William) Lehn of Stanchfield, Garry (Mary Anne Hartneck)
of Clear Lake, Wanda Doering of St. Cloud, and Diana (Buck) Kolstad of
Zimmerman; six grandchildren, four step grandchildren, ten great grandchildren,
three step great grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Merle.
