James E. Herndon - Titusville - James E. Herndon, 80, of Titusville, passed away on March 5, 2009 surrounded by family. Preceded in death by his son Mark, he is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Cindy; sons Jeff and Patrick and grandchildren, Megan, Katie, Christina and Mark; and his brother Doug.

Born and raised in Berwind West Virginia; an outstanding athlete, he played professional baseball for several years following school at Big Creek High School and Greenbriar Military Academy.

He later served 21 years in the Air Force before moving the family to Titusville in 1972 and worked at Kennedy Space Center until retirement in 1998.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Titusville and sang in the choir. A memorial service on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 11 am will be held at that church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Research or First United Methodist Church. North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville is in charge of arrangements.
