F.W. 'Dutch' Hengeveld Jr.

CHAPEL HILL —
F.W. “Dutch” Hengeveld Jr., 82, of Chapel Hill died November
7, 2011. He was born and raised in Davidson, NC where he attended Davidson
College graduating in 1951.
Dutch served in the Army in the Korean conflict from 1951-1953 achieving
the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
He played professional baseball as a pitcher in the St. Louis Cardinal
organization from 1953-1958.
In 1960 he moved to Chapel Hill and was in the insurance and real estate
business working for various organizations and in his own business for
over 40 years. He was very involved in the local scene becoming Chairman
of the Board of Adjustment, Chairman of the Recreation Commission, President
of the Board of Realtors and President of the Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his dear wife, Kay Proctor Hengeveld; a son, F.W. “Bill”
Hengeveld III and his wife, Karen; and a granddaughter, Jenna; dear canine
friend, Lulu; other close family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral Home, 1105 Broad St, Durham, Friday, November 11, 2011 from 6
to 8 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at University United Methodist Church
at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to University United
Methodist Church Youth Mission teams fund or a charity of your choice.
