Charles W. Chuck
Henderson, age 70, of Lincoln, Nebraska, died Friday, August 1, 2008,
at the Homestead Nursing Home in Lincoln after a brave fight with Parkinsons
Disease.
Friends & family are invited to attend a noon lunch and informal memorial
service to celebrate Chucks life on Saturday, September 27, 2008,
at 12:00p.m., at Parker-Oaks Communities(Dikkers Hall) in Winnebago.
Private family graveside services will be in Riverside Cemetery at rural
Winnebago. Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago in charge of arrangements.
He was born March 31, 1938, at Winnebago, Minnesota, the son of Rex &
Theresa (Hoberg) Henderson Sr. He was a graduate of Winnebago High School
in 1956. Chuck attended Hamline University in St. Paul for three years
and graduated from Mankato State in 1962.
He was always proud of his professional baseball career with the Chicago
White Sox and his years playing basketball at Hamline and Mankato.
His professional and family life were spent in Mankato, Duluth, Boulder,
CO., Detroit, MI., and Lincoln, NE. He retired in 2003 as president of
the University of Nebraska Technology Park. Chuck was an avid hunter,
loved to travel, and was competative in many sports.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Janet (Nagel) Henderson, Lincoln,
NE; son: Jay (Tawnya) Henderson and children: Milana & Charlie, Huntington
Beach, CA; daughter: Beth (Kevin) Pringle and children: Trey, Kennadee,
Tate & Kayden, Lincoln, NE; special family friend: Rachel Leonard;
and nephew: Rex Henderson III.
He was preceded
in death by his parents. Memorials are preferred to the Winnebago Museum
Fund, Lincoln Community Foundation(Care Giver Relief Fund) Lincoln, NE
or to the family.
