HEDISON, H. DAVID, 86, passed away June 3, 2008. He was the beloved husband of Florence (Melkonian) Hedison for 60 years.

He was a son of the late Harry D. and Helen (Acceturo) Hedison and was the brother of the late Harry Hedison.

Dave was president of Hedison Jewelry Manufacturing Company for 39 years until his retirement in 1985.

A gifted baseball player, he was a member of the RI softball team that went to the National Championship in Detroit in 1940 & 1941. He was named the outstanding Armenian Athlete in the US in 1942 and was a member of the Walsh Kaiser N.E. league baseball champions in 1943. He was a 1943 graduate of the University of Rhode Island where he captained the baseball team for legendary coach, Frank Keaney.

He was a US Army WWII veteran. He was a member and former president of the Matunuck Point Beach Association, the Netopian Club, the URI Alumni Association and was a member of Overseas Lodge 40 FM Scottish Rite & RI Shrine. He was named the recipient of the Prestigious Ram award in 1973 and was inducted into the URI Hall of Fame in 1976.

He is survived by sons: Eric, Kenneth, David and a daughter, Mary - Lynn Hedison Flynn, four grandchildren, Joanne and Julie Matteson and Kurt and Jay Hedison.

Funeral Saturday at 8:30am from the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., E. Greenwich followed by a funeral service at 10:30am in Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 70 Jefferson St., Providence. Burial will be in North Burial Ground, Providence. Calling hours Friday, 2-4, 7-9. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church.
