WHITEVILLE - Norman
Wade "Bud" Heath, 83, of Whiteville, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008,
in Columbus Regional Healthcare System.
Mr. Heath was the son of the late Emory Heath and Flora Chaney Heath of
Whiteville. He graduated from Whiteville High School and attended the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He played semi-pro and pro baseball in the 1940s, He then returned to
Whiteville and worked with Waccamaw Electric, then National Spinning Co.,
for more than 30 years as an electrical supervisor until he retired in
1989.
Mr. Heath was an active member of First Baptist Church, serving through
the years as deacon, youth worker and interpreter for the deaf. He was
also an active member of the Whiteville Lions Club, where he served as
president and was secretary for several years.
Mr. Heath is survived by his wife, Mildred Leona Garrell Heath of the
home; a daughter, Norma Heath Lundy and husband Don of Fayetteville; two
grandsons, Kyle and Nathan Lundy; and a sister, Mary Lois Robertson of
High Point.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, in First
Baptist Church in Whiteville, with the Rev. Kerry Peeler, the Rev. Dan
Deaton and the Rev. Corbin Cooper officiating, with burial following in
Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:45p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, in
the parlor of First Baptist Church.
