HARTLEIN, WILLIAM JOSEPH,
82 - of Jersey City, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday,
May 3, 2008. His beloved wife of 29 years, Maryann Hartlein, as well as
13 children and stepchildren, numerous grandchildren, and many other relatives
survive him.
He was a native of Jersey City, and lived in New Milford, Albany, NY,
as well as Wildwood Crest, and Woodstown. He served in the Pacific theater
with the United States Marine Corps during World War II, and was also
a professional baseball player with the Jersey City Giants.
He was a former mayor of New Milford. He was a retired sales professional
of the Paper and Pulp Industry, having worked many years for Huyck Felt.
He was also an entrepreneur in the hospitality industry, having owned
and operated the Casa Bahama Motel in Wildwood Crest.
He was an avid golfer, Victorian dancer and a lifetime NY Giants fan.
He was an active member of the Church of the Assumption in Wildwood Crest,
as well as St. Joseph's Church in Woodstown.
He will be sadly missed by the family and friends he treasured so much
but always remembered for his outgoing personality and great sense of
humor. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass
of Christian Burial on Friday, May 9th at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church,
51 Broad St., Woodstown.
Visitation on Thursday evening will be from 7 PM to 9PM as well as Friday
morning from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102
S. Main St, Woodstown.
Burial will follow church services in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon,
PA. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.T. Layton Funeral Home
& Cremation Service in Woodstown, 856.769.1515.
