Elmer I. Hansen Lansing Born
on September 18, 1920 to Hjalmar and Anne (Arntson) Hansen, Elmer was
called home to be with the Lord on April 14, 2011 at age 90.
Elmer is survived by his daughter-in-law, Joanne Hansen; grandson, Steven
(Jessica) Hansen and great-grandsons, Kyler and Trey; brother, Arvid (Mickey)
Hansen. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Verla; son, Thomas
and 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
He played minor league baseball with the Detroit Tigers until WW II where
he served with the 11th Armored Division from 1942 to 1945 and fought
in the Battle of the Bulge.
Upon his return from the war he worked for Fisher Body and then Oldsmobile
where he retired from skilled trades in 1983, after 34 years of service.
He was a member of U.A.W. Local 652, and the Eagles Lodge #1039.
He loved all sports especially baseball, bowling and enjoyed being at
his cottage on Lake Charlevoix. Visitation is from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday
(Today) in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 18 at East Lawn Memory Gardens
in Okemos with Pastor James Robinson officiating.
