Dewey Gray, (Uncle
Joe) age 78 of Richwood, on Wednesday, January 20, 2010.
Mr. Gray was born
in Philadelphia, grew up in Barnsboro and was a resident of Richwood for
43 years. He graduated from Pitman High in 1949, then played Minor League
baseball for the Appleton Papermakers in Wisconsin, followed by 4 years
in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a member of Lawson-Cox VFW Post 7679 of Mantua, American Legion
Post# 452 of Mullica Hill where he served as former Commander. Mr. Gray
coached Little League Baseball for Harrison Township and served as a former
President of the Harrison Township Athletic Association.
He was an avid golfer, former member of Pitman Golf Course who also enjoyed
his family, gardening and fishing.
Husband of Marlene
A. (nee Sbrana), he is survived by 4 children Paul Gray and his wife Coleen
of Northeast, MD, Ronald Gray of Hershey, PA, Linda Biddle and her husband
Steven of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Ann Eisele and her husband Derek of San Diego,
6 grandchildren Kate, Stephen, Emily, Owen, Megan, and Ethan, a sister
Katherine Deikmann, and a brother Robert Gray.
Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service with military
honors at Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery, 240 S. Tuckahoe Road, Monroe
Township, NJ at 12 Noon on Saturday Jan. 23, 2010.
