The Obit For Earl Goodwin

Earl Goodwin, 79, of Surprise, AZ, passed away December 23, 2007 at his home.

He was born February 1, 1928 in Elmira, New York, to Godfrey and Cora Goodwin. Earl was a Military Policeman in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

He was also a professional baseball player with the Philadelphia Phillies Organization. Earl graduated from Southside High School in Elmira, NY, and was a member of the Sports Hall of Fame in Elmira for baseball.

After his retirement as a facilities engineer in 1988, Earl and his wife, Betty moved to Arizona from Hammondsport, NY, where he was an avid golfer, two time president of Sun Village Men's Golf Club, and two time Men's Golf Club Champion - Sun Village.

Earl is survived by his loving wife, Betty; daughter, Janet M. Goodwin of NY; son, Mark T. Goodwin (Lynn) of NY; grandsons, Cody W. Goodwin and Eric T. Goodwin; and sisters, Doris Elliott of NY, and Margaret Patterson of NY.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. with a gathering to follow until 4:00 p.m. at Sun Village - Multipurpose Room, 17300 N. Sun Village Pkwy., Surprise, AZ 85374.
