J. "Skinny" Gilbert

Warren J. Skinny Gilbert,
91, of East Bangor, passed away, Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Gracedale,
Northampton County Home.
Born: in Pen Argyl, December 5, 1920, he was the son of the late Clayton
and Emma Owens Gilbert.
Personal: He was the husband of the late Dorothy L. Ackerman Gilbert who
passed away, February 3, 2001.
Warren was last employed by Kelly Services, working in maintenance at
the former Hoffman LaRoche, Belvidere, NJ. Prior to that he was a meter
reader for the former Penn Fuel Gas, Bangor and for eighteen years, he
was employed as a mechanic for the former Collins and Aikman, Pen Argyl.
He was a 1939 graduate of Bangor High School, where he participated in
both basketball and baseball. He was a World War II, US Army veteran,
where he served in the Pacific Theatre. He attended the Bangor Church
of the Nazarene.
After his service in the Army, he played minor league baseball for the
Duluth Dukes, Duluth, Minnesota; minor league team for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors: He is survived by a daughter, Trudy A. Gilbert, with whom he
resided; a son, Gwynne C. Gilbert and his wife, Wendy of East Bangor all
of East Bangor; three sisters, Kathryn Evans and Jean Dutt both of Bangor,
and Lois Parsons of East Bangor; and a brother, Carl Gilbert of Bangor.
In addition to his wife; a sister, Eleanor Kish; and two brothers, Kenneth
and Donald preceded him in death.
Services: Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at
11 a.m., at the Guerro & Ruggiero Funeral Home, http://www.ruggierofuneralhome.com

will be a viewing from 10 a.m. till time of services Wednesday at the
Interment will be in the East Bangor Cemetery.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered in Warren's
name to the Bangor Church of the Nazarene, 150 Bunny Trail, Bangor, PA
