Ettore "Yogi" Giammarco of New Windsor, NY, entered into rest on July 25, 2009 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus, surrounded by family and friends. He was 87.

The son of the late Nicholas and Maria (nee Barone) Giammarco, Ettore was born April 28, 1922 in Newburgh.

Ettore proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was drafted by the New York Yankees in 1941. He played professional baseball until 1955. He was in the garment business for 20 years with his brother, Hugo, and retired from West Point in 1997.

Ettore was an active member of the War Veterans' Breakfast Brigade, Sacred Heart Church and the Catholic War Veterans. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Jeanne (nee Barel) Giammarco and his two sons, Nicholas and Ron, and their wives, MaryBeth and Linda. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Michael, Kelly and Jennifer Giammarco and step-grandchildren: Andrew, Kelly and Brandon Egan-Thorpe, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and sisters-in-law.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Dante and Hugo Giammarco.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, July 27, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
