Gabrych, Raymond
F. Ray was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and the Winona Athletic Club. He honorably served his country with the United States Navy. Ray was very proud of the fact that he played minor league baseball for the New York Yankees for two years. He was employed as a fireman for the Winona Fire Department for 29 years and worked in maintenance for 12 years at St. Marys University. He is survived by his brother, Elmer (Maxine) Gabrych, Winona, MN; sister-in-law, Gertrude Gabrych, Winona, MN; brother-in-law, William Bergaus; and special and devoted friend, Jeane (Mike) Corcoran. Ray was preceded in death by his wife; parents; infant son, Robert; brothers, James, Leonard, Harold, Eugene and Joseph; and sister, Dorothy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM, on Monday, October 26, 2009, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. The Reverend Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9 will provide full military honors. Visitation will be held at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church on Monday, October 26, 2009, from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. Members of the Winona Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.
