Mark William Frederickson
Charlotte Mark William Frederickson, 55, passed away on Wednesday, October
17, 2012 following a brief illness.
Mark was born February 6, 1957, in Flint, the son of Vernon and Eleanor
June (Good) Frederickson. He was raised in Beloit and Waukesha, WI until
moving to Mason, MI in 1969.
An outstanding three-sport athlete, he graduated from Mason High School
in 1975. Mark earned a baseball scholarship to Eastern Michigan University,
later transferred to Aquinas College and was signed by the San Francisco
Giants in 1979 to play in the California League.
Following his professional baseball career he returned to Aquinas, earning
a BS in Business Administration. Mark earned numerous baseball accolades,
his awards and records too many to mention, but was especially proud to
have been a member of Team USA (1979), and Ferrari's American Amateur
Baseball Congress National Championship Team (1986).
In Mark's early sales career he worked for Liberty Mutual, was a district
manager for Jiffy Auto Rental and was a pharmaceutical representative.
He became a licensed financial advisor and joined Equitable in 1993. He
later opened his own business, Frederickson Financial, in 1999 and was
passionate about personally serving his many clients.
Mark is survived by his wife of 24 years, Linda (Buckingham) Frederickson;
daughters Kimberly and Peyton; mother June (Dale) Frederickson-Harvey;
brother Paul (Susan) Frederickson of Oshkosh, WI; sisters Christine (Timothy)
Dittmer of Shelby Township and Lori (Doug) Lee of Hudsonville; and several
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Vernon in 1981.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012
at Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church in Lansing, MI, with Rev.
Fr. Steve Mattson officiating.
Mark's cousin, Rev. Eugene Smith, will assist.
Visitation will be 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service
at 7:00p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte,
Contributions can be made to the family to establish a Mark Frederickson
Educational Memorial Fund.
