Carlo Forni, 94, a life-long Napa Valley resident, died at home Jan. 2, 2012.

Born on April 12, 1917, in St. Helena to Charles and Teresa Forni, he was a 1935 St. Helena High School graduate. He played minor league baseball until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941, where he served as an officer and piloted B-26 bombers in the Army Air Corps.

Carlo is survived by his wife, Claire; his sons, Chad and Michael; and by his loving grandchildren, Amy, Carlo and Adam. During the 1950s, he worked with his father, Charles; sister, Elma; and brother, Alfred (“Boots”) for their Napa Valley family vineyard business, Charles B. Forni & Sons.

Private committal will be in St. Helena Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hanna Boys Center, P.O. Box 100, Sonoma, CA 95476. Treadway & Wigger Funeral Chapel is serving the family.
