Stephen W. Follett Jr., 83, of Panama City passed away Oct. 12, 2010, at a local hospital.

He was born Oct. 1, 1927, to the late Stephen W. and Hazel C. Follett in Lowell, Mass. His folks later moved to Troy, N.H., where he graduated from Troy High School in 1945, excelling in basketball and baseball. After a stint with the U.S. Army in the Pacific he played several years of professional ball, mostly in Texas. He trained with the Boston Red Sox in 1952. In 1954, he was drafted by the Washington Senators only to have an off-season shoulder injury to end a promising career. Stephen was a 52-year Mason serving as master of Monadnock Lodge No. 80 in Troy in 1964, and also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite and member of Betkosh Shrine.

In 1966, Steve married Eva Hendrickson and they enjoyed life together until 1987 when she was taken by lung cancer. Three years later he met Dorothy T. Creighton and moved to Atlanta. They invested in a large condo on the Gulf of Mexico in Panama Beach, Fla., in which they shared the past 19 years.

Stephen is survived by two cousins in New Hampshire, George C. Congdon in Keene and Jane Silver in Richmond.

Interment will be at a later date in Winchendon, Mass.
