John A. Feldmann, 82, of Algonquin passed away April 19, 2011, at Apostolic Christian Resthaven in Elgin. John was born July 18, 1928, in Beckemeyer, Ill., the son of Rose (Erlinger) and John Feldmann.

He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Carlyle, Ill. where, for many years, he held the record of the most points scored in a basketball game, at 42. John went to St. Louis University on scholarship, and played in the Cubs and White Sox minor league systems, where he held the batting title in the Northern League.

After four years in the Navy Special services, where he coached and played baseball and basketball, he finished his degree at Southern Illinois University. John then joined School District U46 at Larson Junior High in Elgin, where his football team was undefeated for a number of years.

After receiving a Masters Degree in Physical Education and one in Guidance and Counseling, he taught at Eastview Junior High in Bartlett, ending his career as a Dean at Elgin High School. He retired from U46 in 1985, and was an insurance agent for Mutual Trust.

John is survived by his wife of 50 years Virginia (Laufketter), son Chuck (Stacey), daughter Julie (Robert) Mullen, and son Doug (Angie); four grandchildren Annie and Charlie Feldmann, and Amanda and Ryan Mullen; sister Pat (Gus) Kuczka of Grayson, Ga., and many dear nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Maurice, Ralph, Fr. Jerome; and Mark; sisters Mary, Dorothy, and Bernice.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at
St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 111 S. Hubbard St., Algonquin with Fr. Michael Tierney; celebrant.

Burial will be private in St. John Nepomucene Church Cemetery, Fox River Grove. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, 201 S. Main St., Algonquin and on Wednesday morning at the church form 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Apostolic Christian Resthaven, 2750 W. Highland Ave., Elgin, 60124.
