Cletus Fate

Born on April 13, 1918
in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, Mr. Fate passed away peacefully on September
26th, 2009 in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
Mr. Fate graduated from Turtle Creek High School in 1936 and went on to
serve in the U.S. Coast Guard. He spent many years working in the Pennsylvania
coal industry in Phillipsburg, Pennsylvania. He also was a regionally
and nationally known umpire for professional baseball.
He married his greatest love, Ruth Cater Fate; the couple subsequently
relocated to Florida, residing in the Bonita Springs area as well as the
Ft. Lauderdale areas for the rest of their lives. There he established
Fate Machinery, a business that he continued to maintain until his late
80s.
Preceded in death by his brothers, sisters, and dear wife, he now leaves
behind many close business associates, friends, and fifteen nieces and
nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Deerfield
Beach, Florida. Donations may be made in his name to Our Lady of Mercy
Catholic Church, Deerfield Beach, Florida, 33442.
The relatives of Mr. Fate wish to thank all the friends, associates, caregivers,
and hospice workers who assisted Mr. Fate before he joined his beloved
wife, Ruthie.
