James Eskridge

WOODRUFF, SC-- James Harrison Eskridge was born May 9, 1927 in Chester, SC, the youngest child of William H. and Nina M. Eskridge, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at his home.

He was associated with Boggs & Co., Laundry and Dry Cleaning Supplies and Equipment for a number of years.

He has been a representative of Spring Air Mattress Co. of Cameron, SC for over 39 years. Mr. Eskrideg played professional baseball with The Atlanta Crackers Organization, was a Mason and Past Master of Joppa Lodge #530 AFM in Charlotte, NC in 1958.

He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and Oasis Temple where he served as captain of Oasis D&B Corp. and on the directors staff and a member of Bethel Lodge #112 AFM in Woodruff.

He was past asst. Athletic Director of The Shrine Bowl, a former member of the Royal Order of Lesters in Oasis and the Hejaz Temple and was a US Navy Veteran.

He was a member of Emma Gray U.M.C. Of Woodruff, teacher of Theresa Swink Sunday school class, choir member and member of the Methodist Men's Club.

He is survived by his wife, Martha P. Eskridge; four children, James H. Eskridge, Jr. and wife Cyndee, Dr. Carl B. Eskridge and wife Janet, Gayle Crumpton and husband Steve, and Starla F. Kelsey and husband Peter; four step-children, Duane Haimbach and wife Kristine, Brian Haimbach, Amanda Gray and Dennis Bragon; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emma Gray UMC building program and organ fund.

Private family interment services will be held in the Woodruff First Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, September 11, 2009 at Emma Gray UMC, conducted by Rev. Robert Boggs, Rev. Mel Flail and Rev. Amy D. Bratton.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
