Albert Engel

Albert Joe Engel passed
the 1st day of July, 2009. Born August, 9, 1930, in Tulsa, OK, he was
the eldest child of Gomez and Viola Engel, of Coweta, OK. Albert was a
devoted husband to Nancy Black Engel for 54 years. Together they had three
children and a lifetime of memories.
He is survived by Nancy, their children and families: Son, James, his
daughters: Marci and Stephanie Engel, of Lewisville, TX; daughter, Ellen,
husband Ray Peed, sons: Brandon and Daniel, and his great-grandson, Parker,
all of Edmond, OK; and daughter, Carla, husband Ken Garcia, sons: Caleb
and James, of Carrollton, TX.
He is also survived by sister, Bernice Boyd; stepbrother, Earl Hall; stepsister,
Lameda Hall; and stepbrother, Harold Willhoite. He has three sisters-in-law:
Janice and Eloise Engel, and Louise Collins, all of Tulsa. He has 12 nieces
and nephews and a host of great- nieces and nephews.
He was a gifted athlete, playing minor league baseball for 2 seasons with
younger brother, Ray, in the Milwaukee Braves organization.
He enlisted in the Army during the Korean War, where he was a member of
the 11th Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell. He was employed by the
Oklahoma Dept. of Human Services under Lloyd Radar from 1969 until his
retirement in 1984. He was a CPA and worked as an Administrative Budget
Analyst.
Funeral services for Albert will be at First United Methodist Church in
Edmond, Oklahoma, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6. Graveside and burial
will be at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, at 3:30 p.m.
The family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association ,
3555 NW 58th St. #220, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
Services are under the direction of the Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond,
OK.
