Duane O. Eckert
Nov. 19, 1930 - June 18, 2010 Duane was a long time resident of San Mateo,
California.
He graduated from San Mateo High School as a star athlete. He was signed
by a professional baseball team, Pittsburgh Pirates, after graduating.
After serving in the Airforce, he married and had four children; Lori,
Dan, Tom, and David Eckert. Later on in life, Duane moved across the bay
and married his second wife with whom he had another son, Matt Eckert.
He has 6 grandchildren; Travis, Marlo, Danielle, Hailey, Glen, and Cody.
Duane is survived by his sister, Doria Stanton. He also leaves behind
his nephews Greg and Denny and niece Susie Bedford.
Duane became ill about 2 years ago and finally passed away on June 19,
2010.
There will be two separate services, a graveside service June 28th at
2:00pm at Santa Nella National Cemetery to honor Duane as a Veteran. The
second service will be a private celebration of life in San Mateo.
Donations may be made to the Society of Multiple Sclerosis, The Cancer
Society , or a charity of your choice.
