August J. "Gus" Dolechek Jr., 74, of Factoryville, died Thursday morning in Community Medical Center. Gus and his wife, Kathryn A. Lynott Dolechek, celebrated their 53rd anniversary Feb. 11.

Born in Dickson City on Feb. 20, 1935, son of the late August J. and Kathryn A. Bogdonovich Dolechek, Gus was a self-employed contractor, serving the Factoryville area for 40 years. Gus was a star baseball and basketball player for Factoryville High School and even played two years with the Milwaukee Braves minor league organization. He loved to golf, played in the Gin's Monday night league and the Wednesday night league at Stonehedge. He enjoyed going to the casino.

Also surviving are two sons, A.J. and wife, Sharon; and Carl and wife, Cindy; a daughter, Lori and husband, A.J. Chuck, all of Factoryville; six grandchildren, Kyle, C.J. and Kate Dolechek, Nikki Glowatch and Brad and Ashley Chuck; three great-grandchildren, Austin and Riley Dolechek and Tyler Glowatch; three sisters, Irene Hayduk, Kathryn Beck and Agnes Aten, all of Factoryville; and a brother, Robert Dolechek, of Oregon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Abingtons Church, Dalton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Jack Kilpatrick. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
