Deters, Paul
H. Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Sun., Dec. 5,
2010, at the age of 85. Husband of Rosemarie Deters (nee Farinella); father
of Michael, Mark (Beverly) Frasher, Marsha (Robert Gross) and Matthew;
grandfather of Scott, Jeffrey, Jessica and Alyssa Deters, Jacob and Daniel
Gross; great-grandfather to Isabel and Luke Deters.
Paul was from a family of 11 boys and 1 girl and is survived by brothers
Harold (CJ), Charles (the late Rose Deters), Elmer (Lavern) and James
(Carol) and sister AnnMarie Sis (Bill) Rumping.
He is preceded in death by his mother Rose (Vorholt) Deters and father
Leopold Deters; brothers Leap (Arlene), Richard (Juanita), Norman (Sue)
Frasher, Lucian Whitey (died at sea), Eugene (died in infancy) and Francis
Joe (Joan).
Paul served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific, and was a minor league
baseball player for four seasons from 1946-1949. A natural athlete, Paul's
passion in life was golf. He retired from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch
after 47 years of service.
Services: Funeral from the KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 5255 Lemay Ferry
Rd. (at Butler Hill), Fri., Dec. 10, 9:30am to Assumption Catholic Church
for 10am Mass. Interment National Ceme tery. If desired, memorials can
be made to the charity of your choice. Visitation Thurs., 4-8pm.
