Don was born February 8, 1915 in Mansfield, MO to Roy and Louisa Dennis. After college, Don played semi-professional baseball for the Cardinals, before entering the Aeronautics field. He worked in Aeronautics from 1937 to 1975, when he retired. He helped to build such planes as the Spruce Goose and the F-1.
Don loved to do anything he could do with his hands. He loved working with wood and building things, building model aircraft, vehicle restoration, gardening, fishing, and collecting vintage records. He also taught Adult Sunday School for 20 years.
Don is survived by his three children, Donna Lou O'Brien, David Roy and Nancy Dennis, and Carol Ann Backman; his grandchildren, Carrie and Jeff Jopling, Kim Titus, Cassi and Shawn Ford, Alex Backman, Ariel Backman, Chaz Dennis and David Dennis Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jarrett Jopling and Riley Ford.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Carolyn Adele Dennis; brother, Loy Dennis, and grandson, Peter O'Brien.
