GASTONIA - Marion Woodrow "John" Dellinger, 90, died Sept. 15, 2008, at Alexandria Place.

He was a native of Lincoln County, son of the late David Cowles Dellinger and Pearl Finger Dellinger.

Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.

A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at Gaston Memorial Park. Military rites will be performed by the Gaston County WWII Last Man Club.

John was a 1935 graduate of Gastonia High School and was a member of the 1935 American Legion Baseball National Champion-ship team of Gastonia Post 23. He served his country with the US Marines in World War II. He was an avid fisherman, having a spot on Lake Wylie for 40 - 50 years and bird dog breeder, especially beagles. He was a member of Bradley Memorial UMC of Gastonia and loved spending time with his grandsons. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Alexandria Place for all of their love and care shown to John.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Jeff Raby of Gastonia; sons, Larry S. Dellinger and girlfriend Carol of Cowpens, S.C.; Harold and Vickie Dellinger, James W. and Faye Dellinger, all of Gastonia; brothers, Robert Blair Dellinger of Mur-freesboro, Tenn., D.A. and wife Margaret Dellinger of Gastonia; eleven grandchildren, including Jeffrey C. Raby Jr. and wife Ale-cia of Kings Mountain, Joshua C. Raby and fianc?e Brandy of Gastonia, Martha Michael and husband John of Mooresville; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Sara Anne Rhyne Dellinger; a daughter, Debbie D. Warren; a brother, Clyde Lee Dellinger and his sister, Louise Peeler.

The Rev. Jerry Millwood will be officiating.
