William J. De Roker

age 78 of Midland Park, on Sunday, January 22, 2012.
Son of Alma and William De Roker. Raised in Hawthorne and Paterson, survived
by wife Diane (nee Van Den Hende) De Roker, sons William and wife Annette
of Oakland, Michael and fiancé Nicole Amaral of Midland Park and
grandchildren Alexandra and Adrian Jimenez. Predeceased by sisters Alma
Hyatt Phillips and Genevieve Klein.
He leaves behind a large extended family. He was the owner of William
De Roker Electric of Midland Park and a member of the Church of the Nativity.
At age 17, William was drafted from Hawthorne H.S to play professional
baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies and later the Chicago White Sox.
He served in the military during the Korean War and while in uniform played
baseball for the Army team winning the most valuable player. He coached
Little League in Midland Park as well as singing bass in several barbershop
quartets and choruses in both Ridgewood and Livingston.
Funeral will be departing at 9:30 AM on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from
the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue Hawthorne for
a 10 AM funeral mass at the Church of the Nativity, Midland Park.
Interment will follow at the Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers,
memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Center, c/o
