Ark. -- Richard Davis, 87, of Bella Vista, passed away Nov. 10, 2011,
at his home. He was born July 17, 1924, in Radcliff, Ark., the son of
Cleve Davis and Emma Pearson.
He graduated from Charleston High School in Arkansas. Then he signed with
the St. Louis Cardinals organization. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII.
On Oct. 11, 1947, he married Marjorie in Kansas City, Mo. He was a manager
with Mayfair Grocer in California, then moved to Warrensburg and owned
Davis IGA from 1968 to 1972. Later he worked for the Western Auto store
in Salina, Kan., and also managed the Vogue Theater there.
In 1989 he retired and moved to Bella Vista, Ark. He worked at Kingsland
Golf Course for 10 years. He was a member of Unity of the Ozarks and the

sisters, Zelta Mae Caldwell and Hazel Gentry; brothers, Otis and Stanley
Dean; and daughter, Deborah.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie; sister, Beatrice; son,
Rick, of Salina; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Mike Calhoon, of Centerview,
Mo.; son-in-law, Steve Henson, of Bangkok, Thailand; seven grandchildren;
and 15 great-grandchildren.
Family will have a private memorial service. Arrangements are by Bella
