Funeral services for
Joe Lamar Davis, 82, of Cullman, will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at
12 p.m. at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at
Cullman City Cemetery, with Pastor David McGowin officiating.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Davis passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at Brookwood Medical Center
in Birmingham. He born on July 2, 1927 in Center Hill Alabama to Frank
O. Sr. and Tavie Jo Webb Davis. Joe served in the U.S. Navy during WWII,
he played semi-pro baseball, was Vice-President of Southern United Life
Insurance Company and began his second career owning and operating five
convenience stores in the Cullman area.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Helen Holmes Davis
and a brother, Frank O. Davis, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Ann Haley Davis; a daughter, Vicki
Davis; a son, Joe Lamar (Donna) Davis, Jr.; three step-children, Chris
Giangrosso; Lisa (David) Cochran and Darren (Denise) Giangrosso; five
step-grandchildren, Tami, Haley and Sean Giangrosso; Chloe and Chelsea
Cochran; three Sisters, Merle (John) Poplin; Quilla Cartee and Quita Speegle;
one sister-in-law, Juanita Davis and several much loved Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009 at the funeral home
from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
