Edward J. Czaplicki died on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 81 years old.

Born in Newark, he resided in Bayonne before moving to the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township in 1961.

Mr. Czaplicki owned and operated Amcor Packaging and Chemical Company in Avenel since 1971.

He was a communicant of Saint Andrew’s Catholic Church in Avenel; and a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He was also an avid sports fan and former minor league baseball player.

Mr. Czaplicki was predeceased by his parents, Adele and Hans Bachofer; and a brother, Robert Czaplicki.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Lynch Czaplicki; four daughters, Mary C. Nota and her husband, Ralph, of Middletown, Susan Barbieri and her husband, Joe, of Woodbridge, Judith E. Abner and her husband, Chris, of Fords and Linda T. Czaplicki of Metuchen; two sons, Robert J. Czaplicki of Sauk Rapids, MN and Edward P. Czaplicki of Old Bridge; two cousins, Barbara Handa of Bridgewater and Gregory Richards of Brick; and five grandchildren, Deanna Zullo, Anthony Nota and Catherine, Theresa and Maria Abner.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. from the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew’s Catholic Church in Avenel.

Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.

Visitation will be on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
