C. "Curt" Curtis

Curtis, Francis "Curt" C., passed on peacefully at home on October
9, 2012 with hospice care. He was born June, 1921 in Los Angeles, CA.
Following graduation from high school, he was recruited by the St. Louis
Cardinals baseball team and played in several of their minor league ball
clubs from 1939 until 1942 when he enlisted in the Marines and served
as a Sergeant until 1946 in the South Pacific engaging in battles on Tarawa,
Saipan, Tinian, Okinawa and Iwo Jima. He was awarded a Bronze Medal for
Following the war, he played professional baseball in several professional
baseball leagues and retired from the sport in 1949.
Subsequently he served in sales positions with various companies in California
while studying voice. He retired from Cambro Manufacturing in 1989.
He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Dennis Patrick. He is survived
by son, Stephan Patrick of Toronto, Canada; daughter, Lori Farrell in
Southern California; brother, E. R. Curtis in Lewiston, Idaho and wife,
Joey in Tucson.
Francis is remembered by all who knew him as a strong and caring human
being who rarely thought ill of others and was happiest when surrounded
by his family and the many good friends who have enriched his life.
