CRANE, Robert Lee - Of Linden, age 77, died Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Providence Park Hospital in Novi.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the Central Church of the Nazarene, G1261 West Bristol Road, Flint Township, Pastor Dave Hintz officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Contributions may be directed to the Central Church of the Nazarene. Visitation 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mr. Crane will be at the church 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service.

Bob was born in Flint on November 13, 1932, son of the late Luther and Lora (Harris) Crane and was a life-long resident of the Flint area.

Bob was a graduate of Flint Central High School. After graduation he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1951 as a pitcher. He played baseball for numerous years in the Flint City Leagues and coached baseball at Davison High School. He was an avid sports fan and loved to golf.

On June 9, 1988, he married Carol Wilber in Flint. Bob was employed for 46 years with GMSPO, retiring in 1998. He was a member of UAW Local #659. Bob was involved in the United Way in the 1980's and was a member of the Central Church of the Nazarene. Bob loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were his life.

Surviving are wife, Carol; six children: Connie (Gust) Wuorinen of Middletown, CT, Rob (Amina) of Gig Harbor, WA, Lori Wright of Grand Blanc, Scott (Krista) Wilber of Swartz Creek, Kristen (Doug) Hasenfratz of Grand Blanc, Amy (John) Hawkins of Fenton; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Charles (Jan) Crane; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by first wife and childhood sweetheart, Mary Hanlon; brothers: Harold, Billy and Gordy Crane and sister, Fay McMorris.
