Joseph Edward Craffey, 72, of Boomer died December 26, 2010.

He was born December 8, 1938 in Boomer and he was the son of the late Joe J. and Juanita Reid Craffey.

He was a graduate of West Virginia Tech and West Virginia University. He was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception/Saint Anthony Shrine Catholic Parish in Montgomery and Boomer. He was a retired teacher and football and baseball coach with 34 years of service, having taught last at East Bank High School. He played professional baseball with the New York Giants Organization. He was involved in MOCC Prison Ministry through the IC/SA Parish.

Surviving are his children, Joseph William Craffey and wife Christy of Boomer and Erin Elizabeth Craffey of Boomer; his former wife and mother of his children, Patricia Ann Graves Craffey; grandson, Druw Allyn Bown; granddaughter, Jaicee Quinn Craffey; brother, John R. Craffey and his wife Lynn of Falls View; niece, Tara Ruth and her husband Aaron; and nephew, Stephen Craffey and his son, Gavin Luke Craffey.

He donated his body to the WVU Human Gift Registry.

A memorial Mass will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Shrine Catholic Church, Boomer with Father John Rice as Celebrant.

Friends may call one hour prior to Mass at the church.
