George M. Conrad Jr., 73, Exeter Township, passed away peacefully Feb. 21, 2008, in his home with his wife at his side after battling cancer for two years.
He was the loving husband of Delores E. (De Turk) Conrad, with whom he shared 51 happy years of marriage.

Born July 5, 1934, in Reading, he was a son of the late George M. Conrad Sr., and Carrie E. (Smith) Conrad.

He worked for more than 45 successful years in the real estate business, last working for Coldwell Banker Landis Homesale Services.

He was a 1952 graduate of Mount Penn High School and a 1956 graduate of Albright College.

He was the recipient of many awards for outstanding real estate sales accomplishments.

George played professional basketball with the Reading Keys and Allentown Jets. He also played professional baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates AA team. He was voted into the Mount Penn High School Hall of Fame, Albright College Hall of Fame and the Berks County Hall of Fame. He was a Berks County racquetball champion. Besides sports, George loved snowmobiling, boating, fishing, hunting and water-skiing.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, George Craig Conrad, husband of Vicki (Weidner) Conrad, Craig, Colo.; and Kevin S. Conrad, husband of Rhonda (Towns) Conrad, Chandler, Ariz.; and a daughter, Jodi Conrad Eslinger, wife of Daniel Eslinger, Allentown.

Other survivors include three sisters: Joyce McCoy, Birdsboro; Mary Malick, Mechanicsburg; and Carolyn Hoffman, Birdsboro.

There are also four grandchildren: Sandi Kint, Clint Paul, Colton Conrad and Dawn Rentaria; a great-grandchild, Angelina Rentaria; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be March 8 at 11 a.m. in the Auman Funeral Home, Reiffton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pinnacle Health Hospice, 3705 Elmwood Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
