Robert P. Coleman,
81, of Vass, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, March 28.
Robert was born in Bernhards Bay, NY, and graduated from Central Square
High School in 1948. After high school Bob was signed by the Cleveland
Indian organization to play professional baseball. He played two seasons,
until he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Bob worked in the asphalt business and owned his own business, Oswego
Asphalt, from 1971 until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and Syracuse
University sports fan.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, John P. Coleman and Emily Lewis
Coleman, also two brothers, John P. Coleman Jr. and Donald L. Coleman.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce Oatman Coleman; children,
Robert A. (Denise) Coleman, Janice Mullin (William), William (Dawne) Coleman
and Caryn Coleman; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services for family will be held Wednesday, April 4, at Hillside
Cemetery in Central Square.
Calling hours/reception will be held Wednesday, April 4, at the Central
Square American Legion Post 915 from 4 until 7 p.m.
